BOSTON, June 12, 2024―Richard J. Snyder has been awarded the Doctor of Design Leadership Honoris Causa Award by Boston Architectural College. The yearly award is granted to an exceptional individual who has demonstrated exemplary dedication to the college’s community, showcasing profound contributions that align with the core values and mission of the institution.
In the award citation, Boston Architectural College said, “As a trustee of the BAC, Richard has been a stalwart advocate for the college’s mission of providing accessible and excellent design education to students from all backgrounds. His leadership roles at the BAC have been pivotal in shaping the college's strategic direction, transforming the college’s governance systems, and ensuring its continued growth and success. Richard’s advocacy for diversity and inclusion in design education and in board governance has helped create a more vibrant board at the BAC and encouraged students from diverse backgrounds to pursue careers in architecture and design.”
Snyder has a broad background in the areas of business law, lending, real estate and international law. He serves as legal counsel and adviser to business entities of all sizes, including for-profit and not-for-profit institutions and domestic and foreign corporations. Much of his practice involves developing business and legal initiatives and supervising complex transactions in which large legal teams represent each party.
Snyder is active in civic and charitable endeavors, serving in state and municipal positions as well as chairing college and civic boards and committees. His alma mater, Babson College, created the Richard J. Snyder Distinguished Service to the College Award in his name. In 2018, the college also named the road leading to the Babson Executive Conference Center as Snyder Drive.
