Duane Morris LLP partner Robert Montejo, who works on data center development, told Law360 the industry should be heartened by FERC's moves. The agency has acknowledged regional differences but also put grid operators on the clock to figure out how to speed up the interconnection of new facilities, Montejo said.
"This order may be remembered less for its technical reforms and more for recognizing that large load interconnection is now a core political, planning, and economic issue," Montejo said. "The data center industry is increasingly becoming a race for electricity."
